So far I have order the following modules and are waiting for them to arrive <a href="http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-Arduino-MCP2515-CAN-Bus-Module-TJA1050-Receiver-SPI-Module/32385765132.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.56.kqdTr3&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_4_71_72_73_74_75,searchweb0_0,searchweb201560_9">MCP2515 CAN Bus Module</a> <a href="http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Leonardo-R3-Pro-Micro-ATmega32U4-Board-For-Arduino-Compatible-IDE-free-USB-cable/1893754883.html">Leonardo R3 Pro Micro ATmega32U4 Board</a>. I have little experience with Arduino as well, although it is great more people are showing intrest in a cheaper simplified board.
received mentioned hw (two arduinos & two can modules) - all is working perfectly! As for now - made them talk to each other. Going to connect two can modules to one Pro Micro. Am I need a eeprom chip in the future?) Maybe to program it without reflashing the Arduino.. (as in original Triple schematic)
I just received my hardware today aswell, I won't have time to play with it until exams are over. Mastereworm have you gotten everything to work using the schematic above? Can you post pictures of your setup? I too was also wondering about the eeprom as some revisions of the Can Bus have it and some don't.
Are you using the CBT firmware?
When I start getting the smaller runs I'll be able to offer the hardware without BT for less. I'm also working on a Two CAN Bus device with wifi that will be significantly less expensive, and even faster as well!
